“CONNECTING THE RIGHT PEOPLE, WITH THE RIGHT PRODUCTS, IN THE HOTTEST SPACES.”
The catchphrase for IDS16 couldn’t be more spot on… or more enticing. After all, what happens on this single 3-day weekend in Toronto shapes the industry for the year to come – in North America and beyond. The 18th edition of Canada’s design fair celebrates leading brands, innovative presentations and rising local talents.

Look for spotlights on Canadian-made products, small-batch designers, and international speakers including Lee Broom, Ora-ïto, presented by Scavolini. Caviar20 will be presenting a feature exhibit called Decades of Chairs, and several seminars will be offered, including Benjamin Moore Colour Trends 2016 with Sharon Grech, Kitchen & Bathroom Renovations with Laura Stein, and Renovation Budgets Made Easy with Jeffrey Douglas.

But the most exciting buzz surrounds this year’s Guest of Honor, design legend Tom Dixon, who has joined forces with quartz giant Caesarstone to create IDS16’s central lounge installation. It’s part of their 2016 Designer Programme, which tends to blow minds with new experiential design events. This year, Tom Dixon and Caesarstone have created four kitchens, each based on one of four elements – fire, earth, air and ice. Each kitchen was also chosen to reflect the culture of one of the cities the Programme will be visiting in 2016; unsurprisingly, Toronto’s has been paired with ice. “The Toronto Ice Kitchen is inspired by Canada’s frozen lakes and the icebreakers that clear the way for freighters. Powering their way through the ice, they leave behind a frozen mix of jagged pieces in a spectacular array of whites and greys.”

With three full days of inspirational exhibits, influential speakers & leading products, IDS is not just a fair — it’s a total design experience. We hope you enjoy exploring what makes the design world so exciting and inspiring.
