Green Energy Doors Open 2016 Is Here!

Green Energy Doors Open 2016 has arrived! We love events that spotlight and celebrate eco-friendly products and processes! Their motto is 100% Sustainable, 100% Achievable!

Green Energy Doors Open, is a province-wide, year-round communications campaign and showcase of individual, community, and commercial sustainable energy projects. It is organized and spearheaded by the Ontario Sustainable Energy Association. The initiative aims to showcase advancements in the sector, demonstrating that Ontario is already on the path to building a 100% clean, sustainable energy system – yay!

The event is FREE to participate in as a host and to attend. Both Alberta and Ontario events will run parallel on the weekend of September 9, 10,11, 2016.

Check their MAP to find events near you!

Green 13 celebrates Green Energy Doors Open with a free screening and discussion of the film ‘Journey to the Future: A Better World is Possible’, whose message is that we must imagine a future that is green and sustainable. Here, students learn about sustainable urban practices at University Presbyterian Church.

Here’s a message from The Honourable Catherine McKenna, our Minister for the Environment:

We’d like to give a special shout out to a company that I have enjoyed working with in the past: SustainableTO! On Saturday Sept 10th 2016, they will be showcasing a house they designed and built that is going to “both look and feel great”! It’s at 88 Risebrough in the Bayview-Finch area. The approach they are using provides ‘high performance’ construction qualities that will result in utmost comfort.  To build, it costs just marginally more than minimum code construction, and in the long term, it pays off in terms of lower utility bills! This is the value proposition of a Green Home!
